Medela launches new single electric breast pump in Canada to provide breastfeeding moms with more milk, more comfort and no fuss

Leading breast pump brand introduces Solo™ for compact, easy-to-use pumping support
Solo new breast pump easy to use on the go

McHenry, IL, January 25, 2022 – Medela, the most trusted breast pump brand in North America1, announced today the launch of Solo, a compact, easy-to-use single electric breast pump that offers more milk2 with more comfort and less fuss, to be mom’s ally at home or on the go. Solo will be available exclusively at retailers across Canada, including Babies ‘R Us, Buy Buy BABY, Best Buy, Walmart, London Drugs, Rexall, well.ca, and Amazon, and independent baby boutiques beginning this month.

“To best support the nearly one third of Canadian parents who use a single electric breast pump3, we are excited to introduce the Solo Breast Pump as an easy-to-use, compact solution to help them reach their breastfeeding goals,” says Jeff Castillo, executive vice president for the Americas at Medela. “With 60 years of breastfeeding and lactation research shaping Medela’s history, we are honoured to be trusted by millions of mothers around the world. Solo’s intuitive and hassle-free design ensures that moms have a no-fuss breast pump that they can count on to support them through their breastfeeding journey.”

Medela’s Solo Breast Pump features:

Intuitive and hassle-free design. As Medela’s lightest breast pump, Solo has only a few parts and is easy to clean and assemble. With its intuitive 4-button interface and 9 pre-programmed settings, this single electric breast pump is extremely easy to use.

Quick charge solution and long-lasting built-in battery. With the cutting-edge available USB type C connector, Solo has a built-in rechargeable battery that charges faster and lasts for up to six pumping sessions when fully charged.

2-Phase Expression® Technology. During a feeding session, babies start by using short, fast sucks to stimulate the Milk Ejection Reflex. Once the milk begins to flow, babies change to a slower, individual rhythm. Medela's research-based 2-Phase Expression technology mimics baby’s natural sucking rhythms – faster to stimulate milk flow, then slower to provide optimal milk flow.

PersonalFit Flex™ breast shield. With a 105-degree opening angle, soft rim, and oval shape for a better fit, the PersonalFit Flex™ breast shield puts less pressure on milk ducts than traditional breast shields, resulting in a more effective and comfortable pumping experience for mom, and up to 11.8% more milk for baby – clinically proven.4

Closed system prevents breast milk from entering the tubing, overflowing, and leaking into the pump mechanism. This helps ensure that your expressed milk stays safe and clean, but also that your pump's components are protected from potential damage.
