Medela continues to support equality and inclusion in the workplace

As a member of the Swedish-Swiss Chamber of Commerce, Medela is delighted to support their ongoing events to support equality and inclusion in the workplace on 11 February 2021 with the participation of our CEO Annette Brüls as a panelist.

Did you know that in the US there are more CEOs named John or David than there are female CEOs? Or that in the UK 78% of large companies pay men better than women? Such statistics are all the more staggering because it is proven that companies embracing diversity and inclusion in all aspects of their business statistically achieve better results than their competitors. Diversity in thinking increases innovation by 20%, leads to better strategies, debates and outcomes, and inclusive teams outperform less diverse competitors by 35%. In addition, and worthwhile considering in the ongoing “War of Talents", almost 50% of Millennials consider diversity and inclusion as an important factor in their job search 1-2 .

In collaboration with Advance and the Embassy of Sweden in Bern, the Swedish-Swiss Chamber of Commerce is facilitating a digital webinar to highlight initiatives that help create more diverse and inclusive workplaces. Representatives from Swiss and Swedish companies, such as IKEA or Accenture, will discuss alongside Medela CEO Annette Brüls about their companies' journey towards equality, how they have moved from intentions to concrete actions and talk about lessons learnt along the way.

Champion equality and advocate for a diverse workforce and inclusive culture
As an international organisation that employs around 1,800 people worldwide, Medela is inspired by the passion and commitment of our teams to improve the lives of mothers, babies and patients. As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility Programme Medela Cares, it is part of our mission to support new moms on their journey, including their decision to continue breastfeeding when returning to work after baby. We further cultivate an environment that values and fosters every member of our team, committed to balanced representation and equal pay to empower a diverse and equitable workforce. We are in the process of developing mentoring and leadership exchange programmes to inspire our female colleagues to thrive at work and personally.

"As a woman leader of an organization committed to women’s health, and a mother who has pursued career growth alongside motherhood responsibilities, I am personally dedicated to an equal, diverse and inclusive environment and to improving the opportunities available to mothers in the workplace and to empower my colleagues to be champions of equality, diversity and inclusion wherever they go," Annette Brüls expresses.

We cordially invite you to listen in on this webinar taking place this Thursday, 11 February 2021 from 3.30 pm to 5 pm CET.
