Supporting breastfeeding families with an infant in the NICU

Providing a donation of breastfeeding supplies to select Ronald McDonald House Charities® locations around the world

Supporting local chapters

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 1 in 10 babies are born more than three weeks early each year. Breast milk for these infants is critical to their growth, wellness, and development. In honor of Medela’s 60th anniversary, we have provided 60 Ronald McDonald House Charities® Chapters in Australia, China, the United Kingdom, and the USA with breastfeeding products to support families with an infant in the NICU.

Forty percent of families staying at Ronald McDonald House® locations around the globe have a child in the NICU. To provide greater ease and comfort to RMHC® families while reducing the stress of having a baby in the NICU, Medela is providing the same high-quality equipment available in the hospital for their stay at a Ronald McDonald House, with the goal of giving families caring for a baby in the NICU one less thing to worry about. This in-kind donation includes a hospital-grade (multi-user) Symphony® Breast Pump with trolley and kits, as well as accessories to support approximately 15,000 breastfeeding families staying at several Ronald McDonald House programs.
